Expanding Access to RYLA

Diversity is a defining strength of RYLA. Campers come from nearly 50 high schools across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin counties which reflect the full range of backgrounds in our communities.

RYLA is free for every camper.

This commitment ensures that all students, regardless of financial means, can access a life-changing leadership experience.

Your support makes this possible:

  • $1000 sponsors one camper for the five-day program.

  • $200/day covers lodging, meals, transportation, and all activities for all campers, along with lodging and meals for 65 volunteer staff who serve them at camp.

Why it matters:

  • The average California summer camp costs $325+ per day, with some camps costing $400 to $600 per day.

  • In 2025, more than half of RYLA campers have never attended an overnight camp.

  • Without RYLA, many would not have the incredible opportunity that RYLA represents.

Growing demand, limited capacity

We aim to serve 150 campers each year, but rising costs have limited us to 125 in recent years. Your gift helps us reach more students.

Expanding opportunities beyond campers

Donations also fund facilitator diversity grants, enabling first-generation college students to serve as RYLA staff. These grants remove financial barriers, strengthen representation, and build the next generation of leaders.
